The physicality of a digital web.
I live in a ‘nanny state’. There are many people in the United States who feel responsible to impose their will upon others. Very often complacent attitudes perpetuate the useful nature of imposed values, attitudes and ideas. When does the will of others impose upon my liberty? My freedom? My independence? Why do people (institutions) make decisions for me at times? In what ways can I become aware of opportunities to effect the institutions which effect my world? Do I have the authority to place blame or responsibility on a given entity? How does one gain true power in a nanny state?
The modern nanny state is very digital. The nanny is still her old nagging self, trying to tell everyone to behave and stop loitering, but she is non-confrontational in institutionalizing her nagging – hiding in a digital web like a decrepit old spider she is ready to feed on enemies (as well as ignorant bystanders) who attempt to attack the deteriorating structure supporting her deceptive, cunning nature. The nanny does not like confrontation or change. The nanny does business through a complex pseudo-bureaucratic structure, the nanny creates important check points in a structure of command connected by a communication chain like a web. This web is like a spiders web – but it is very much influenced by the digital web which binds us all, and which is beyond the internet. The nanny makes it difficult for us to navigate her chain of command which is a constant stream of information for her if utilized correctly. She doesn’t find it necessary for us to understand her agenda, or the information she gathers about us. The motivation to create the structure she imposes is no ones business. The nanny makes her own rules. The nanny has many defenses. The nanny is in a constant state of panic.
Should I become digital? The world is increasing its use of digital technologies, and our way of life is emulating and exploiting the effective qualities in successful digital structures. How can I digitize my life? Why would I want to?
